Gdynia, 9 June 2022
Jakub Budzyński, Stakeholder Manager at RWE Renewables: “The next phase of the F.E.W. Baltic II wind farm project will soon be underway and we are beginning preparations for the construction of an offshore transformer substation. By organizing a meeting on the technical requirements, project specifics and schedule, we want to provide information to Polish companies interested in supporting this key project. We hope that the prospect of participating in the development of the domestic offshore sector will encourage domestic companies to attend the meeting and to co-implement one of the pioneer offshore projects in the Polish Baltic Sea.”
A meeting with suppliers of services and components for the electrical offshore substation being built as part of the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm will be held at the Mercure Gdańsk Stare Miasto Hotel at ul. Jana Heweliusza 22 on 23 June 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
This meeting is part of series of events involving dialogue with potential subcontractors who could be involved in the delivery of RWE’s offshore wind farm. Through the F.E.W. Baltic II project, RWE will contribute significantly to the local economy and Poland’s green energy transition.
Organized in the very centre of Gdańsk, this event will be an opportunity to obtain detailed information on the implementation of the offshore transformer substation, which is part of the technical infrastructure of the F.E.W. Baltic II project. According to the adopted investment implementation schedule, the installation of the transformer substation is planned for 2025, and the RWE Renewables wind farm will start producing electricity in 2026. Once fully operational, the 350 megawatts wind farm will be capable of producing enough green electricity to supply the equivalent needs of around 350,000 Polish households.
The meeting will include information and presentations on:
- How to build a sub-supplier chain and its structure
- Contract schedule
- Technical and competence requirements placed on potential suppliers
- Supply contracting mechanism
- Culture of cooperation with RWE Renewables and the general contractor
The meeting will be attended by representatives of both the investor, RWE Renewables, general contractor and supplier of the offshore transformer substation, Chantiers de l’Atlantique.
“This is another meeting with potential cooperating companies, where we will present the specifics of the implementation of the offshore transformer substation — one of the key elements of the future F.E.W. Baltic II wind farm,” emphasises Jakub Budzyński, Stakeholder Manager at RWE Renewables. “The meeting with service providers will be held in the form of an open dialogue, carried out on a partnership basis, enabling a free exchange of information and gaining invaluable contacts and building relationships. This will be critical for suppliers and businesses who want to successfully enter the offshore wind sector. We want to invite those Polish companies for whom this will be an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge on the green energy sector.”
